To register, please print, complete, and mail a Registration Form to the address given on the form. A supply list will be sent to you upon payment. Classes are limited to twenty (20) persons per class; a waiting list will be created once a class has been filled. No refunds will be issued, unless a class must be cancelled.

Friday, June 1, 2018 • 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Summer Wreath Paper Piecing Class

        

Taught by Susan Hatchette · Learn basic paper piecing in this beginner-friendly class.  We will stitch fabric to paper foundations and join the easy blocks to create a 21” square flower wreath wall hanging.  Pattern and paper foundations will be provided.

Improv Piecing Class

Taught by Debbie Ross and Debi Pickens · This class will introduce techniques for modern piecing. This will be a process class, not a project driven class. Using solid fabrics will help you faster through the process. There will be numerous samples in class. Fun, fast and easy.

Quilt Labels Class

Taught by Teresa Marler · Learn the importance of labeling your quilts. Part of the class is lecture on why to label and the information to be included on the label, fabric to use (and what not to use), pens and other marking tools. The hands-on portion of the class includes learning to write on fabric and then making your very own label to use on a quilt. You don’t have to be an artist! Anyone can make a beautiful label. The class will end learning several different techniques to attach the label to the quilt. Fabric label and pen kits will be $8.00.

Designing with Flying Geese (Simplified)

Taught by Betty Fisher · Learn to make any size flying geese units, without using special rulers. We’ll use various combinations to create your own original blocks. It’s quick, accurate and fun.

Simply Elegant

Taught by Susie Semler · Finish this 20” x 20” wall hanging during class. Learn two techniques – Cat Cradle unit and the Award winning “EZ Circles” method, which produces circles with perfect, smooth, and finished edges. Bring to Class: Sewing machine, rotary cutter, and general sewing supplies. Free kits will be provided.

Virtual Dyeing: All but the Liquid

Taught by Ronnie Ashford · Want to dye fabric but a little afraid of the process? This class will provide you with the basic background, supplies needed, and the steps for dyeing fabric at home, without costing a fortune. There will be information on the dyeing process and a bit of history of Batiks, Japanese Shibori and tie dyeing. We will explore different techniques, such as Jello-O, Kool-Aid, Ice, and shaving cream dyeing. Then comes the fun part, manipulating plain white fabric and getting it ready for the dyeing process. We will learn the many techniques to fold, twist, stitch, wrap and manipulate fabrics to create gorgeous patterns to prepare the fabric for the color. Everyone will have hands-on time to fold, twist, and wrap fabric! Finally, once you have created these beautiful one-of-a-kind fabrics, how about sharing of ideas for incorporating them into your quilts.

Quick Tricks & Disappearing 9-Patches

Taught by Susan Oliver · Short lecture/demo about various quick tricks used in piecing. Proceed into a workshop of various disappearing 9-Patches. You will need to bring a sewn 9-patch to class.
