Lecture focuses on where dyes came from and how patterns were printed. Chemistry, pirates, economy and the secrets in textile production history will all be revealed.

April 21, 2023: KATHY DELANEY presents “ADDING TEXTURE TO YOUR APPLIQUE” (See Details)
Kathy’s WORKSHOP will explore various ways to create ruched flowers, dimensional buds, and other techniques to add texture and interest to an applique project.

May 18, 2023: REEZE HANSON presents “SACRED GEOMETRY” (See Details)
The lecture is a mix of history, geometry, philosophy, humor, and lots of quilting. It is not technical but is based on how traditional shapes, derived from our observations of the natural world, are infused in our art.

June 15, 2023: KENT SECHREST presents “SEWING MACHINE MAINTENANCE: SERVICE AND REPAIR” (See Details) Kent is the owner of Kent’s Sewing Machine Service. He has many years of experience and provides factory-approved service for HandiQuilter and Brother companies. He also services most home sewing machines and sergers. His presentation will focus on his journey and how quilters can help take care of their machines.

July 20, 2023: KAREN WILLIAMS & TERESA KEMP present “Keepers of the Secret Code”
(See Details) This presentation presents a history of the ten most commonly used quilt patterns (adapted from Teresa Kemp’s ancestors’ African Igbo tribe) used to lead people to the Underground Railroad during the Antebellum South. In addition it includes a brief introduction to the children’s historical fiction book, Keepers of the Secret Code.

August 17, 2023: JULIE JANSSEN, MD presents “QUILTS OF THE CIVIL WAR ERA” (See Details) The presentation will focus on the quilts, blocks and fabrics of the mid-1800’s as well as the women who made them.

September 21, 2023: PAM THOMAS presents “ENGLISH PAPER PIECING–MY JOURNEY IN QUILTING” (See Details)
Pam will have a trunk show featuring quilts from her journey, from her first two quilts to her most recent award-winning creations. Her lecture will focus on English Paper Piecing.
